Classroom Policies
No Nuts
Due to severe allergies of students in the school, peanuts and tree nuts will not be allowed in the school (or foods with traces of nuts). If your child is eating peanuts in the morning before school it would be greatly appreciated if they could put on their school uniform after they have eaten. Students will also be asked to wash their hands each morning when they enter the classroom.
Students lunches and snacks will be checked to ensure the safety of the students.
**Students are not allowed to share snacks or lunches**
No Yogurt Tubes
Due to student allergies, please do not send yoghurt tubes to school as these get very messy. However, students may bring in yoghurt cups.
Ready-to-Eat Lunches
As we do not have the facilities to heat up multiple lunches, please ensure your child's lunch arrives "ready to eat" (no heating required, with proper utensils, etc.)
Weather Appropriate Clothing
Our class spends a lot of time outside and students need to be dressed appropriately for the weather. On rainy days, students should have rain boots and a waterproof jacket with a hood. On colder days, students need a warm jacket with a hood (or a hat), warm footwear, and gloves. We also ask that you keep a full spare change of labelled clothing at school in case clothing gets wet outside.
Absent Students
If your child is going to be absent, please phone our office manager, Chloe (250-995-6425) before 8:15 am. If we have not received a phone call, we will phone contact numbers to verify.
Hands-On Behaviour
At EBS there is a zero tolerance policy for violence. If a student engages in hands-on behaviour with intent to harm someone (i.e. hitting, kicking), their guardians will be called and the child will be sent home.
Toys at School
Students are permitted to bring toys to school (no toy weapons are permitted) for use at recess only. Toys must stay inside student backpacks until recess.
Communication
Please email questions and concerns to Heather and she will disseminate information to the classroom team members.
